RELOCATION FROM ABERDEEN

This town is a place
that everyone always leaves.
We know it,
we say it,
those of us not from here.
Now you too are going,
going with so much more
than you came with.
Into the packing crates
go dishes, books, CDs.
In your imaginations
you'll carry an inner landscape
of fires at night
and haar-soaked granite.
And above all you'll be taking
three young souls –
new beings
who are from here,
brought to life by you in this place.
You'll be back.
