Since 1999 The Spring Tides Poetry Group has been a place where writers of poetry in the Aberdeen area - whether old hands or raw beginners - can meet in an informal atmosphere to read and discuss their work.
From time to time there are visits from established poets who read from their works, and lead interesting discussions and workshops. The members also participate in various local poetry events during the year, such as 'Wordfringe' and the annual Aberdeen Arts Centre Carnival.
The Group meets every Tuesday at 6-30pm in the Committee Room, Aberdeen Central Library. (Enter by the wooden door at the top of the steps between the two main public entrances) Membership is FREE, and newcomers are always made very welcome.

This website, which was launched in 2001, provides up-to-date news and information about the Group and its activities. It showcases some of the work of its members, and also contains poetry of past members, poets from across NE Scotland, as well as others who have an association with this area.

If you fall into any of these categories please feel free to send us up to seven of your poems to be considered for inclusion on the site - also a short biography, including how you got into writing poetry, and what stage you feel you are now at.
(It is worth remembering that, while it is still rather a grey area, in general if a poem appears on a public website such as this it will usually be regarded by publishers and competition organisers as a previously published work)

Poems may be sent by pasting them into an email, or as Word or Open Office attachments to David Henry at: david@spring-tides.org
